They were two of the most feared elven warriors in the world. The girl was from a prestigious family, while the boy was born from a very poor one. They grew up together and fell in love. One day, they both decided to rebel against the high counsel but lost miserably and were sentenced to death. The girl's family pleaded for her life, and so the counsel agreed to let her live, but she would be imprisoned within a land of snow, where winter is present at all times. There is no life within those lands, and so loneliness will eventually kill every prisoner who steps in. She would also lose all of her memories of her present life. The boy was sentenced to death, and his family could not save him for they are not high in society's ranking. He died and was reincarnated into a caterpillar. As years passed, the caterpillar turned into a butterfly, and by instinct, flew north towards the land of snow. Once there, it would flap around until at last it finds the maiden standing within the center of the land. When it confronted her, she looked at it in awe as to see another living thing in so long. Then something suddenly sparked inside of her...and she finally remembered. The butterfly soon died but the boy's soul was unwilling to leave the land, so he willed himself to reincarnate into another caterpillar, and so for eternity, he would find her every year to keep her company.

Good artists are crappy artists who never gave up.
I love your detail in the hair and on the butterfly. It's body is soft and plush really helping capture the delicate feel that butterflies have without making it boring.
I think, however, that the fur trim on the lady seems a little de-attached down around her breasts, but I think that's because it's not looking to be sitting on anything. Perhaps add a bit more shadowing towards it's tip to help with some blending? That's just my opinion though, and it hardly subtracts from the piece.

I don't think their ear length matters too much, although from a D&D standpoint it would look like they were half-elves, in other venues the ears can be just as short and they are still full elves.

Reality is for people who can't handle role-playing games.
I love every bit of this picture: the emotions and the effects. Especially where the guy touches (or wants to touch her), but his hand fades in with the fur of her clothes. Very nicely done. Definitely one of the best I've seen.
