This was an on and off project. It started out as practice for female anatomy week in art class and ended up as a digital work. Anyways, this was inspired when i was sketching the frame and this middle-eastern melodic music came on and i had a vision of a story in my head about how a desert goddess and a warlord were forbidden to be together for it was a universal rule that the the gods can never be emotionally attached to a mortal... A battle soon broke out on earth and the warlord was forced to fight and would have inevitably die from his mortal wounds. Within his dying moments, he called out to the goddess. She came to him and decided to turn his body into sand and keep his soul bound to earth within the desert where he may still exist. Then, she would appear every midsummer within that same desert and summon his soul within the grains of sand that encompass the dunes. That way, every year they may secretly be within each other's presence without being punished for their forbidden love.

Daily DeviationFrom the suggester: "When I first saw Midsummer secrets by the amazingly talented artist ~Digital07, what hooked me so deeply into this absolutely outstanding artwork is that the overall colors and details (especially the face of a male being made out of the wind-blown desert sand) are just so damn captivating and compelling, you can *actually* feel the emotion and sheer meaning of just wanting to be close and intimate, and he did quite a first-rate job at deeply encapsulating the near-tragic loss and separation as well, so that we can REALLY care what happens to those two characters..." hey thanks a lot!
i wish i could upload faster but then the problem is that i usually lose inspiration on a piece and get artist block...so that really slows me down haha.
anyways, i'm getting used to working wiht my tablet, and i mostly use it in photoshop 7. What about you? What program do you use?
thank you! i really appreciate it. =)
Same bro... Photoshop too but CS3. I prefer the older versions to be honest as they arent too heavy with the system requirements.

And we got the same dilemma as well! I quickly lose interest in my pieces as well. At least you go back and finish em while i settle for something imperfect.

yeah, i have CS2 and it takes so much longer to load than ps7, so i just use 7 since there's not much of a difference between them anyways.

Don't you just hate it when you lose interest in a piece? man, i got a bunch lying around unfinished...usually if its for a contest or something similar then i go ahead and try and finish it but other than that...i don't bother =/
If CS2 takes longer to load, moreso with CS3. Why do i use it? i dunno... LOL

Same with me here... i dont add too much details on my works except for those i join in contests but even then, i dont do as much as i should! LOL... aside from losing interest quickly, im too lazy to researcn and study stuff.

cool backstory to go with an awesome image :D

Her skin and her hair are my favourite parts. Especially her hair.

Amazing and heart moving story and great pic!
